EMDR therapy is one of the most researched and effective trauma treatments. The community is growing fast and is global. Whether EMDR therapy becomes your primary mode of treatment or if it just becomes part of your tool box or your world view, you will be emboldened by the training to be able to treat your clients more effectively. Basic Training is comprised of 6 full training days, plus 10 hours of consultation during the training process. Once completed, you are considered Trained in EMDR (not Certified) and are encouraged to use EMDR therapy in your practice. If you wanted to pursue Certification, you would go on to do 20 hours more consultation.

The Institute for Creative Mindfulness founder, author and master EMDR clinician Dr. Jamie Marich designed a trauma-informed curriculum that meets EMDRIA-Approved standards for basic training in EMDR Therapy. With the assistance of faculty members Dr. Stephen Dansiger and Amber Stiles-Bodnar, the program is growing and launching in new locations, including Northern and Southern California, New York City, and beyond!

Discovered by Dr. Francine Shapiro, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is one of the most researched and utilized methods in the treatment of post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of human distress connected to trauma.

Completing our full training program is a multi-tiered process, consisting of:

  • Part I Training (3 Days= 20 total hours of Lecture and Practicum): Covers the basics of trauma, the adaptive information processing model, trauma-informed stabilization, and the basic methodology and mechanisms of action used in EMDR Therapy. You will be able to practice EMDR Therapy with certain cases after completion of Part I.

  • Part II Training (3 Days= 20 total hours of Lecture and Practicum): Enhanced practicum content, covering best practices for using EMDR Therapy with special populations and in the complex scenarios of clinical practice; advanced content on ethics, neurobiology, and case conceptualization.

  • 10 Hours of Consultation with an EMDRIA- approved consultant on our team. Completion of consultation is required before a Certificate of Basic Training in EMDR Therapy can be awarded.

Successful completion of this program constitutes completion of a Basic Training Program in EMDR, and allows you to practice EMDR Therapy within your clinical scope of practice. Earning the EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist distinction requires additional training and supervision that you can complete with us or another party if you wish to go on for this distinction.
