I am excited to announce that the MET(T)A (Mindfulness and EMDR Treatment Template for Agencies) Protocol article has been accepted and published in the international, peer-reviewed Journal, Substance Abuse: Research and Treatment. This article explains the rationale behind the MET(T)A Protocol, discusses the evidence-base supporting its implementation and describes the application of the MET(T)A Protocol.

The Spring 2021 addictions issue for EMDRIA’s Go With That magazine features my article “A Day in the Life of a MET(T)A Center.” I tell the story of how the first MET(T)A Protocol Center began, and how MET(T)A has grown over the last 6 years. I detail my journey into EMDR therapy, the application of mindfulness and EMDR therapy in the treatment of addiction, EMDR therapy as a complete psychotherapy, the Palette of EMDR Interventions in Addiction (Markus & Hornsveld, 2017) and the further development of the MET(T)A Protocol. I describe what a typical day in a MET(T)A Protocol Center is like, and share some thoughts on the future of EMDR therapy and addiction
