A great deal of my practice has to do with training clinicians, providing consultation, and mentoring therapists as they deepen their clinical work and continue to grow into who they are as clinicians.  My work as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and as a Trainer with the Institute for Creative Mindfulness keeps me at the center of the growing world of EMDR therapy and the expanding world of Mindfulness Based therapies.

In addition to the above, my private practice generally remains full, and so I have created StartAgain Associates. I have trained amazing clinicians who bring a variety of skills and specialties, as well as a variety of fee structures, including lower fees or sliding scales.  In the interest of knowing that one size does not fit all, and in the interest of helping potential clients have the opportunity of finding good therapy at the rate they are able to pay, these are the current therapists on our growing roster of StartAgain Associates.

Dr. Stephen Dansiger

I am available for psychotherapy at the rate of $350 per therapy hour. I do not have sliding scale slots at this time, but my Associates have lower fees and frequently have availabilities on a sliding scale.

I have provided training, education, leadership, coaching and therapy for a diverse population for almost 30 years.  I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, holding a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. I have created and run programs at several top treatment facilities, as well as serving as a Clinical Director and Primary Therapist.

I am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist, and practice primarily using EMDR therapy as my therapeutic modality, and the Adaptive Information Processing model of EMDR as my theoretical orientation. I work with all types of trauma: event based trauma, developmental trauma, attachment trauma and institutional trauma. I specialize in addiction, PTSD, Complex PTSD, and phase of life issues.

I have trained all of our StartAgain Associates in EMDR therapy through the EMDRIA Approved Institute for Creative Mindfulness. I supervise and provide regular consultation to dozens of therapists, which keeps my own work in the office with my clients informed by the most current practice and research in our field.

Please contact me to set up an initial consultation.

John Fisher, LMFT

John Fisher, LMFT has worked in mental health for nearly 20 years. His work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with understanding the experiences, relationships and stories that have shaped how we see ourselves and the world. He approaches therapy as a collaborative process of discovery and growth, helping clients recognize patterns that may no longer serve them while developing practical tools for moving forward with greater clarity, flexibility and intention.

John works primarily with adults navigating trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges and questions of identity, purpose and meaning. His approach integrates EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy and depth-oriented psychology, with an emphasis on understanding the relationship between our inner life, our relationships, our embodied experience and the choices we make in creating a meaningful life.

John’s work as a therapist has been shaped in part by a longstanding mentorship and professional collaboration with Dr. Stephen Dansiger. Over the years, that relationship has grown into a broader partnership, including their work as co-founders of StartAgain Associates, an organization providing EMDR training and developing trauma-focused approaches to clinical care. Their continued collaboration informs John’s integration of EMDR, mindfulness and the belief that lasting change involves not only understanding ourselves more clearly, but learning how to put that understanding into practice.

Alongside his clinical background, John's perspective has been shaped by his experiences as both a professional musician and professional athlete. These pursuits cultivated a deep appreciation for the relationship between identity, performance, expectation, discipline and purpose, and continue to inform his work with clients navigating their own questions of growth, responsibility, creativity and change.

John holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership from California Lutheran University, as well as a Certificate in Addiction Studies from Los Angeles Community College.

His fee is $250 per session and accepts sliding scale on a limited basis.
